New Years Party Design

Looking for some New Year inspiration? Whether you're hosting a party or lucky enough to be invited to one, we've got all you need right here.
I love this blend of naturalism and pops of turquoise/robin's egg blue. The perfect palette for a party:Ok, I really am not the best source for the party info. You have to check out this blog,
Hostess with the Mostess. This is the go to spot for any party theme/color inspiration. Some of her ideas for New Years are copper and aqua:

Lilac and silver:
And one that she blogged about from a store called Social Couture. I am totally turning to this place the next time I throw one of my themed parties...

Now what to wear?
I know my wallet is feeling much lighter after the holiday, but here are some options from Forever21 we all can afford:

Hope I've been of some assistance!

Seeing Spots

Lately, I've felt the need to add as much leopard print to my wardrobe as possible. Leopard and I go through a love/hate relationship, but lately we've been very much in love...

I think the only time I ever decorated with a leopard print was in high school when I had leopard printed sheets. Ya, they were great...
Leopard printed steps sound like the tackiest thing in the world, but not so. Check it out:

Lovely little leopard accent chairs makes every room pop: The Sartorialist provides the best inspiration for fashion, I swear. This woman inspired me to purchase a leopard print coat (from Forever21 for $35 and it looks amazing!)

Her all black outfit provides the best backdrop for her leopard purse:
My leopard print flats are getting a little worn, so I've had my eye on these babies:

I also just picked up a scarf that's very similar to this one, 40% off at Express!

Dressing the Home

Next on my book wish list? Dressing the Home by Marie Bariller. I have no idea why I was not aware of this book sooner, but can't wait to get my hands on it. It seeks to answer the question, is dressing the home the same as dressing the body? To further explore, the author went into the homes of some of the best fashion designers we have, including Christian Louboutin, Catherine Malandrino, Betsey Johnson, and Diane Von Furstenberg, as well as Dolce & Gabbana. Can't wait to find out for myself!

Red Hot

Red and I have been having quite the relationship lately. I don't know if it's this time of year that gets me so in love, but I type this entry to you with red painted nails, so it's safe to say I'm obsessed.
I should post pics of my red dining room with white trim, but it's not completely decorated to my liking, so I will wait on that; however I do highly recommend painting your dining room red. It definitely adds to the excitement of every dinner party I've ever had. Red is also the perfect accent color:

I especially love when red is added so unexpectedly, like in these window treatments:

I almost based my office design off of this color scheme. Again, red is used in such an un-obvious way with these headboards. Cutest guest room ever:

I fell in love with this Italian ragazza when I saw her on The Sartorialist. Minus the cig, how hot is she? It's all about the red shoes:
My fav jewelry company, Sorrelli, added the perfect holiday color this year. Cranberry is the name and you better believe it's on my wishlist:
Another item on my Santa list. I've always wanted the perfect red lipstick, and this YSL version is to die for. Hopefully I'll be puckering some red hot lips this Christmas!

Oh, one more thing. I've been on the hunt for a red purse for the longest time. Anybody have suggestions??

Croc Appeal

If you're interested in adding a little bit of lux to your life, croc patterns are just the answer. And the awesome thing about it is, who the heck knows if it's real or fake without really examining it? No one.

How lux does this look? Serving martinis on croc-embossed trays? I'll take one, thanks.
A very interesting accent, the croc stripe running through this bathroom looks amazing. Why not opt for the whole package? I don't know how ready I'd be to slap a huge piece of crocodile artwork on my wall, but in this room it somehow works.
Ooooo so pretty. (everything is faux, don't worry) You could be wearing the most hideous outfit ever, and the second you put these gloves on, no one would even notice you got dressed in the dark. At SaksWant to play guess how much I cost?On sale at Kohls for $20.40. I won't tell a soul...

It's not always the embossed croc material that's appealing. It's also the pattern. Check out this dress designed by Catherine Malandrino:

Pops of Neon

I was excited to find the January issue of Elle Decor in my mailbox last night, but even more excited to see a spread on the growing trend of neon in both interiors and fashion. A word of advice for both: If you're putting neon to use, ensure there are some parts of the design that are neutral. Otherwise you run the risk of burning some one's retinas.

I thought I'd do a little research on my own, and came up with some awesome finds:
How awesome would this kitchen be in a beach house?? The cabinets are totally loud, but like I mentioned, they've toned down the other aspects of the kitchen, i.e. the blinds, and the island and chairs so it works perfectly. Also loooove the chandelier.
This is a crazy dining room, but something about it is so appealing. I love how the wallpaper wraps into the built in bookcase.
Pops of neon in this space are unobtrusive thanks to the white table, wall, and floors.
Pretty to look at, but for the normal girls like us, it's a tricky look to pull off.May I suggest:
A simple neon green tee with an accented orange bag is all you need to incorporate this trend:
