À tout à l'heure!

So exciting! The French phrase I just wrote above means see you later, prounounced Ah toot ah luhr! (those stupid little french cds in the car are really paying off) I'm off to the beach for a bit. I don't know what I'm more excited about, the non-working part or the beach part. Either way, I'm hoping to get some killer blog posts in the works during my down time. Have a great week everyone!

P.S. Have you seen the August J.Crew catalog yet? How is it possible to get awesomer and awesomer?? I may have made that word up, but anyway, the set couldn't have been more stunning. I think Jenna may have just increased tourism to the Grand Canyon... (I do have to mention there's a page with wedges on it and they actually, for serious, wrote "Wedge of Allegiance". Am I the only person who thinks that's hilarious?)

I just flipped through the whole Grand Canyon section and got to the polished looks. I swear that styling was made to put me in debt.... Anyway, À tout à l'heure!!

Loving Picture Frames

I feel the need to mention my current obsession with hanging collages of empty photo frames. How brilliant? Seriously, don't tell me you've never agonized over what photos to put in your frames. What a perfect solution! Plus, frames can so beautiful on there on, especially vintage ones. I'm considering giving it a whirl in my bedroom above the bed. I'll let you know how that works out. (P.S. Guarantee the fiance's going to be like why are the empty picture frames above our bed?)

And there's just something about this Lisa Bengtsson wallpaper I just love. Doesn't it look so french apartment chic?

Happy Weekend!

I wish this is what I could be doing all weekend, but instead I have birthday parties and an engagement photo session to attend to. Actually, I'm pretty excited about that! Have a great weekend all!

Mustard & Pink

I love Vanessa Jackman's fashion photography and her recent posts have not failed to impress. I loved the color combo in this girl's outfit and found some decor solutions for applying it:

Don't those look like old national geographics? They look so cool piled up like that and my parents totally have an unhealthy amount of them stashed in their basement. Hmm.... I think the black wall helps, though.
P.S. Ikat wallpaper, you will be in my dreams tonight...

And for a match made in heaven, who can forget Betsey Johnson's dining room:

Gray Day

I woke up to a gray ugly morning today, but sometimes gray isn't all the bad. I'm loving this wrap top and the room to match can't be described any other way besides chic:

Outfit Inspiration

I was so intrigued by this room design, I just had to interpret it into an outfit. And I'm glad I did, because I'd never have come up with this sweet outfit on my own:

Juxtaposition Design

I've talked many times before of my love for a good juxtapositioned design (is that even a term I can use?) Anybody can go to a Raymour & Flanigan and buy the whole master bedroom suite and be done with it. But really, who could be happy waking up to a sea of mahogany every morning? What makes design so appealing for me is combining two things completely out of the ordinary with nothing in common and ending up with a design that is so original and looking like it has everything in common.

I chickened out this weekend, but I purchased a big taffeta mermaid skirt to wear to a wedding. I wanted to wear a white tank with it and a huge Sorrelli necklace. I ended up with a black silk tank for fear I'd be getting stares and whispers all evening, but it would have been sweet. Anyway, enough of my juxtaposition rant; see for yourself:

I bet you were staring at this foyer wondering why it was so interesting. Because it combines a dose of glam with an otherwise country feel. Didn't think they'd look so good, did you?

There's a whole lot of periods goin' on in this room, but tell me you don't want to pull up a bergere and take a listen to the baby grand in the corner. It's because it's an interesting room to be in...

And if the whole juxtaposition theory is a bit much to take on for you, try a contemporary print on an antique piece of furniture:
This is the vibe I was going for at the wedding. JCrew is really the master at combining different styles into one outfit:

Thoughts on the denim shorts and tights trend? I wonder if it will still be around again this fall:

Swipe of a J.Crew Credit Card

I'm already scared of the J.Crew credit card bill I will be receiving months from now. Have you seen the super cute Fall Lookbook on their website? Their marketing techniques even work wonders on me, and I'm in the marketing field! Be sure to check out the video, too, just in case you weren't already salivating on your keyboard...

Hot Pink and Blue

I saw this image on the blog Jak & Jil, and I instantly thought of my office. I ripped the following image out of an old Domino years ago and knew I wanted to use the color combo sometime in my life and finally did in my office.

And here's my office. I would take pics of the rest of it, but I fear you'd think some sort of battle took place:
