Family Room Corner Vignette

Remember the client I was designing the outdoor space for? Well, she was having trouble sprucing up a corner in her family room, also, and asked me for a few ideas. I gave her a little packet of info and can't wait to see what she does with it!

Here is the space as it is now:
And here is what I gave her:

I couldn't get the 3d rooms to look exactly like what she had, but you get the idea...

I can't to see what she ends up doing! Oh, by the way, have you seen they FINALLY have a premiere date for Million Dollar Decorators on Bravo? May 31st at 10 p.m. I am so there.

Paris Metro

I am loving this look of Paris Metro! The below room is from Horchow. They describe this look as a pale palette, but rich. The fabrics are elegant, but inviting. The look is part heirloom - part flea market. It also has a very similar vibe to my kitchen redesign.

I'm starting to see that print on the ottomans everywhere! I'm using it for my curtains in my kitchen and I purchased the below pillow for my client's patio redesign.

And I love a chic Parisian. Both these outfits look very Paris Metro to me:

A J.Crew Spring

So J.Crew has been not so awesome for me lately. Did you see the latest catalog?? There was a super hot model that they dressed in some seriously unflattering outfits with boxer shorts sticking out of the top of her shorts. I get it. That's their thing / Jenna's thing. But really, I think the diversity could be toned down just a bit. And the fact that she painted her son's toenails hot pink is just weird to me. I don't know about you guys, but to me, totally weird. Anyway, I am however in love with some of their outfits currently on their site. And I've provided some lovely interiors to match:

I have been searching since last year for the perfect pair of scalloped hem shorts. Of course, J.Crew doesn't have my size online, but maybe if I stalk their stores, I can find them.

I don't think the orange pair is my thing, but she looks super cute:

A little nautical inspiration is good for everyone:

Sorry for the terrible lineup of photos. Blogger wasn't cooperating today.

UPDATE: If you google the whole Jenna Lyons toenail painting thing, there's quite a bit of controversy. Check this one out: http://omgeemag.com/2011/04/15/jenna-lyons-paints-her-sons-toenails-controversy-erupts/

Calico Corners Fabric

Calico Corners just came out with their Spring/Summer 2011 Lookbook and I LOVE the prints! I would take any one of them and upholster my next chair or design an amazing maxi dress for summer.

This is Thom Felicia's collection: (which by the way I loved him and his show Dress My Nest. Whatever happened??)

Dwell's collection. Don't you just love the squares fabric?
Great color combos:
Anyone have any fun projects coming up that you'll need a fabric for? I definitely recommend checking Calico Corners out.

Accessories Inspiration

I wore this accessory combo the other day and was so excited by it, I was inspired to create a room out of it! The awesome scarf is actually from Pier1, can you believe it!? The ram bracelet is from HSN, but is now sold out. So glad I snatched it up when I did! The earrings are Sorrelli and the pearls from my grandmother:

And here's the room design:

Fun color combo, right? I never would have thought to combine a light teal blue with army green. P.S. the above mirror is my latest obsession. It's designed by Bunny Williams and is 40" in diameter. Amazing.

Patio Redesign

I just came back from my design meeting with my client who wanted her family's patio redesigned and it went great! She's the perfect client, not too picky and very excited about her project. I've been dying to show you her design board and now that she's seen it, here it is:

This is a rough, repeat rough, sketch of how the design is going to be implemented (the scanner cut off the bottom half of my drawing, sorry)

I can't wait to set it all up! I just have a few more components to purchase and we'll be shooting for the second week of May. I will be sure to share the photos!

Kitchen Redesign

Yesterday, I referenced the fact that I've ridiculously chosen to take on yet another project in my life. But you see, the issue is I own an interior decorating company, soon to be showroom, and have the ugliest kitchen. Not to mention, the rest of the house isn't something I'd brag about either. My husband and I plan on building our dream house in 2 years, so we're kind of like, why make our rented townhouse look nice? That's what someone who doesn't own an interior decorating company, soon to be showroom, would say. I can't take it anymore. I want to be proud of my home. So, budget is a MAJOR factor. We're saving for the mac daddy home and don't want to carve too far into that savings for this remodel. Below is the design. I'm going for a Polished Bohemian Industrial vibe. Yes, I know that's a lot of styles in one, but I don't care.

If you click on the design board, you can see it larger. Dear readers, I need your help. Which light fixture do I go with for over the island? The one from Home Depot that costs $200 or the one from Rejuvenation that costs $450? The cabinets, like I mentioned, are being painted with the new Rustoleum product. I plan on painting them black. Do I go with the less expensive combo towards the bottom for the counter and backsplash or my lover the Formica carrara marble look-alike counter with subway tile backsplash? The less expensive tile at the bottom for the backsplash is actually really pretty. It has a metallic sheen to it. I know, you're thinking why would you not do the carrara marble combo?? Because I always knew I would most likely end up doing it in my dream kitchen. Do I use it up now? Plus, it's more expensive.

This is the Home Depot light fixture image I took today:

Let me know your thoughts readers!! P.S. Got ranunculus today at Home Depot!! Aren't they pretty??

Feminine Tough

I love how both these photos share a common element of feminine tough. In the street style shot, she's in all black with a bad ass leather jacket on, and the softest, most pretty feminine hairstyle and makeup ever. LOVE it. Same goes for the Kelly Wearstler designed entry. Tough black floors and staircase with girly pink doors and stools.

P.S. Since my life is so full of nothing to do (detect the sarcasm?) I've decided to repaint my kitchen cabinets. I'm going to use the new Rustoleum product. Has anyone tried it yet? I'm nervous! I'm putting together a design board now for the transformation of my kitchen and will be sure to share when it's complete!
