America, America

In light of Independence day arriving, I felt a red, white, and blue color theme was appropriate. I just found these awesome flats at Payless (BOGO by the way!!) I'm debating if I want these flats or the black and white striped heels by Lela Rose. Back to the subject, Whitney Port recently sported some cute red, white, and blue outfits for InStyle, too. Who knew dressing up for the 4th of July didn't have to involve a big tacky flag on a tee-shirt? (I did by the way) Enjoy my matches!

Super cute Payless Lela Rose shoes I was referencing.

Old Hollywood Glamour...Ooo La La

In an attempt to create a portfolio for my business start-up, I'm trying to do as many *free* interior decorating as possible. So far, I've advised a bit on a restaurant of a family member and my best client of all, me! I'm redoing my guest room, since right now it is a junk room and has nothing but a bed and boxes in it. When I moved in with my fiance, his townhouse needed a serious design overhaul. Too bad I didn't think to take before and after pics, but that's ok, I still have the finished product. What's funny about our place is that I have so many styles going on. Literally, each room is a different style, but when else will I get to make a diversified start-up portfolio? The guest room will be based upon my favorite style, Old Hollywood Glamour. Some inspirations shots are below, including the ever present fashion comparison. More details to come as I progress!

Safari Chic

Jungle fever has always been a classic style in the fashion world. It never really seems to go out of style. I don't often wear this look, but do admire what can be done with. Below is my latest match of safari-inspired interiors and fashion.

Flower Power

I decided to post another blog for the day since I was SUCH a slacker the past week. This interior I found on a U.K. website with interiors that would take your breath away. Of course, in typical Andrea fashion, I lost the name of the site. I'll do some research and give the image its due credit at a later date. I don't know if I would really got this far with a floral motif in my house, but it's still nice to look at.

Below are some floral dresses I came across from Bloomingdales and J.Crew. Floral has been big in fashion lately, through Spring into Fall/Winter.

How did I do on this match?

Wedding Influences

I know I haven't blogged in quite a few days, but it's for good reason. I'm planning my wedding! I will be getting married October 9th, 2010 and I'm on the ball with trying to find the right color scheme. I've been very influenced by what else? Interiors! Since it's a fall wedding, I do want those colors to reflect that, but not so much with the cheesy oranges, reds, and yellows. The colors I am considering are a burnished olive, rich chocolate brown, a dark eggplant, and touches of gold. The interior below is somewhat reflective of the colors I like, but I prefer just a little darker purple.
This green in the room below is perfect for bridesmaids' dresses or an accent in the flower arrangements:

Love the purple color paint on this wall. Exactly what I'm looking for.Below is the actual color scheme I'm hoping to achieve! Good for a fall wedding, no?

Another Ikat Moment

So in a much earlier blog, I mentioned J.Crew's new Ikat line, so it is fair if I talk about J.Crew again considering I promised it in an earlier post. Their pattern comes in pretty much everything as always J.Crew's style. I do not own this dress, but I can't make any promises. The chair is from the lovely Pottery Barn and I would so love to own it. Hey maybe I'll get the chair and the dress and I can wear my Ikat and sit on my Ikat chair and be so matchy matchy. Just kidding, I'm not that weird. Hope you like my match!

A Fashionable Life: Max and Lubov Azria

An interior designer's dream; the June issue of Harper's Bazaar featured Max and Lubov Azria's home and let me tell you there's about 8 different kinds of interior design styles goin on in this house, but it works so seamlessly. I think if you're a fashion designer, you're pretty much expected to have a well decorated home, but this is beyond words for how beautiful it is. The image below (with a pillow I'd love for me Andrea!) almost has a vintage look to it with the chairs. However if you really look at the image, it has a contemporary feel to it, as well. This room is mostly contemporary vs. the room above with some contemporary accents.
Holy moley, check out this foyer. How does one even have something so awesome? A waterfall sculpture?? Amazing. I also love that canopied wing chair, anyone know where I can find an inexpensive one?
Seriously, all these rooms are in the same house. The one below does a beautiful job of marrying yellow and black, while still being tasteful. (I have a great black and yellow outfit/room combo I'll post at a later date.)

Sorrelli Inspiration

My mom gave me a bunch of old back issues she had of Martha Stewart Living this past weekend. Let me tell you that woman seriously knows what's up. She has some of the awesomist rooms featured in her mag. I would love to be a set decorator for her shoots. Anyway, back to the subject at hand, I found this image in the November 08 issue. I love this room, it's so sultry looking. I was reminded of my good friend, Lily's company Sorrelli. They make beautiful jewelry that I've been sporting for years. (p.s. I get tons of compliments!). Check out their website here. This particular necklace is from their color line, Lapis. Perfect match, don't you think?
